'Ad fontes!': Een onderzoek van Petrus Nannius' Deuterologiae sive spicilegia (1544)

Abstract
After the death of German-born Latini t Conrad Goclenius in 1539, Pieter Nanninck or Petrus Nannius (1496-1557) became the third professor of Latin at the famous Collegium Trilingue Lovaniense. In a true humanist and Erasmian spirit he taught Latin to hundreds of young students. The professor showed a particular interest in the Roman poet Virgil (70-19 BC). This paper deals with one of his commentaries, that on the fourth book of the Aeneid - his Deuterologiae sive spicilegia (Leuven: Rutger Rescius, 1544). After an introduction to the Collegium Trilingue and the humanist educational methods, it takes a closer look at Nannius's Deuterologiae by means of a source analysis. Special attention is also paid to Nannius's use of Greek parallel places.
